With the flu season on its way and the ebola virus making headlines, a lot of us are wondering how we can protect ourselves from getting sick.
It's as simple as washing your hands regularly. Germs are everywhere and the centers for disease control and prevention say that viruses and bacteria can live on surfaces for 2 hours up to a few days and transfer easily to your hands.
The CDC says the best way to avoid these germs is to scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
The world health organization says that washing our hands correctly can save more lives than any vaccine because it stops the transmission of any disease, its airborne bacteria and pathogens.
If you're not near a sink, hand sanitizers with at least 60 percent alcohol can fight off germs too.
