Making Valentine's Day Healthy

Valentine's Day is tomorrow and i have some ways you can enjoy the romantic holiday without blowing off your diet. Registered dietitian Kate Patton says your heart will thank you for having a glass of red wine with your valentine's dinner. The polphenols in red wine may provide heart protective benefits. Lean, baked or broiled fish would be a great dinner option---it packs in plenty of protein and omega 3 fatty acids. The American Heart Association says studies have found omega 3 fatty acids decrease abnormal heartbeats, slow the growth of plaque in the arteries and may lower blood pressure. And you won't have to skip dessert, especially if it involves chocolate. Dark chocolate covered berries or nuts are the perfect Valentine’s Day dessert-because you'll get twice the amount of antioxidants and heart healthy fats! Have a happy and healthy Valentine's Day tomorrow.
