The American Council on Exercise teamed up with the University of Wisconsin to study the best exercises for the abdominal area. When it came to activating the
rectus abdominis muscle which is the main upper and lower front ab area---the traditional crunch elicited the most muscle activation. Doing a traditional crunch on the ground, on a stability ball or decline bench are all great options. When it came to targeting the external ab muscles, the front plank, side plank and products like the ab wheel were the best exercises.
In other health news, those who stay up late are more likely to face health issues than early risers. A high
risk of diabetes, metabolic syndrome and muscle deterioration were all side effects of night owls, according to a study published in the journal of endocrinology and metabolism. The risks remained the same even if the people got the same amount of sleep.
