![Combating Alzheimer's Disease could Start with your Diet]()
Following the mind
diet may lower your
risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers are calling the mind
diet a combination of the Mediterranean
diet and the dash diet-which stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The hybrid
diet is high in
fruits and vegetables and lean meats. A decade long study followed one thousand people and found their
risk for Alzheimer’s decreased by 53 percent by following the
diet.
In other health news, counties across the U.S. are getting their health report cards from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. They compiled health data such as smoking, adult obesity, physical inactivity and food environment to rank each county. The report finds the unhealthiest county in the state of Texas is Starr County. Among the other top five worst health counties are Maverick, Hidalgo, Brooks and
Willacy County.
