CDC Updates Adult Immunization Guideline Recommendations

Adults need regular immunizations just as much as the little ones and the centers for disease control and prevention have recently released updated guidelines. Researchers say about a third of all pneumonia cases develops in elderly people so they may need a little extras protection. Recommendations for adults 19 years old and older also have updated guidelines on tetanus, h-p-v, measles, mumps and rubella, as well as hepatitis A and B vaccines. Flu shot recommendations have also changed. Adults ages 18 and older can receive recombinant influenza vaccine or RIV. RIV does not require an egg grown vaccine virus and does not use chicken eggs at all during the production process. A complete list of adult immunization recommendations can be found on the CDC’s website.
