New technology is making it easier for some to keep track of their health issues, and our health reporter, Lyssa Hansen is telling us how that's especially true for those with diabetes. Managing your diabetes can be difficult, but there are smart phone apps available to help keep track of your health. All types of diabetes, type 1. Type 2 and gestational require patients to monitor their blood sugar levels multiple times during the day to avoid major health issues. But there are apps to keep track of your diet and ease the burden for diabetics like glucose buddy. Because diabetics need to monitor their intake of carbohydrates, apps like calorie king have nutritional information for foods at restaurants---perfectly convenient for diabetics on the go. My fitness pal has a barcode reader you can use to scan labels at the grocery store and also a large database of foods you can search for nutritional values. There's even a Lenny the lion app to help kids manage the disease. And all this information isn't just for diabetics. Their doctors can use it too.
