Health Matters: Fitness Bands

Fitness bands may be doing more than just tracking our health and wellness. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer says the popular health bands may be invading our privacy. Senator Schumer addressed this issue in New York and said that when users enter personal information like their weight and age, companies are able to sell those details without consent. He believes the federal trade commission should take action. Popular fitness bands up by jawbone, fitbit and Garmin Vivo Fit are able to track sleeping habits, eating patterns and even your steps. Schumer says this data is so person specific that it could potentially detect who you are by the way you walk.
