Fitness bands may be doing more than just tracking our health and wellness. U.S. senator Charles Schumer says the popular health bands may be invading our privacy. Senator Schumer addressed the issue in New York and said that when users enter personal information like their weight and age, companies are able to sell those details without consent. He believes the federal trade commission should take action. "People don't realize that this kind of information is perfectly allowed to be stored by the company. But worst of all, there are no laws that prevent the company that owns fit bit or any of the other bracelets from selling that information to other people, who would want a prospective employer to know their personal health data?" Sen. Chuck Schumer; (D-New York) Popular fitness bands up by Jawbone, Fitbit and Garmin Vivofit are able to track sleeping habits, eating patterns and even your steps.
