The Food and Drug Administration says the deadline is up to use gluten free labeling on food products.
The FDA says all products that use the gluten free label must now have undetectable levels of gluten--- which is less than 20 parts per million of wheat, barley or rye or any other derivatives.
Last august the FDA said food manufacturers had one year to meet the requirements.
If they don't, manufacturers will be subject to regulatory action.
So far, a gluten free diet is the only medically approved treatment for those suffering celiac disease----but it is becoming a popular diet for those without the condition.
The FDA suggests that consumers continue to ask questions regarding food in restaurants and stores.
