Before you reach for that unhealthy snack after a stressful day, think twice!
A new study from Ohio State University shows stress eating can cause some serious weight gain in women.
Researchers say the calories that are consumed are only part of the problem.
Stress itself could be throwing off metabolism. The study found women who experienced stress in a 24 hour time period before eating.
Burned one-hundred-and-four fewer calories in the time after eating a high-fat meal than non-stressed women.
That adds the equivalent of eleven pounds each year. Researchers concluded their findings would offer motivation for people to keep healthy foods nearby at all times.
