To breast feed or not to breast feed? Its a controversial topic and difficult decision every mother has to make but new research shows that breast feeding may not be much more beneficial than bottle feeding. The Ohio State University looked at the health of young children ages four to fourteen, unlike most studies that just study infants. They also included sibling pairs within families. Researchers found that when comparing different families, that yes breast, feeding led to better outcomes in a Childs Health in areas like body mass index, hyperactivity, math skills, reading recognition, and obesity, among others. But when researchers compared siblings that were fed differently, one breast fed and the other bottle-fed, they found these long term health differences did not exist. Researchers say that looking within families where the social economics are the same among siblings, makes this a strong argument in the debate that breast-feeding may not be as beneficial as originally thought.the recent findings may comfort some mothers who cannot breast-feed and choose to bottle feed instead.
