Health Matters: Chemical Found In Bread Removed

In tonights Health, Subway announces it plans to remove a chemical additive from their popular bread recipes.
The companys decision is partially sparked by a petition of more than fifty-eight thousand signatures led by health activist and FoodBabe.com blogger Vani Hari.
The controversial chemical azodicarbonamide is used as a bleaching agent in the dough and also improves the doughs elasticity and shelf life.
The chemical can also be found in plastics, yoga mats and electronics.
Hari says the chemical is linked to allergies, asthma and respiratory issues.
But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recognizes it safe to use in foods.
In other Health News, vitamin C may be a vital aid when paired with cancer patients undergoing traditional chemotherapy.
A small study of stage 3 and 4 ovarian cancer patients showed that when vitamin C was given in high doses intravenously to patients during chemotherapy sessions, they experienced fewer toxic effects from the drugs.
Vitamin C may also kill cancer cells. When rats were given vitamin C with chemotherapy, scientists noted cancer cells shrunk in size or disappeared.
