It's February, and many of you may be one month into your healthy New Year’s Resolutions. Well, FOX2 has a few health tips to help you keep your fitness and health related goals strong all month long. The first is Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking water before and after each meal has been shown to increase weight loss. Reach for water instead of caffeinated or added sugar beverages like energy drinks and sodas. Daily Water Recommendations Women: 91 ounces Men: 125 ounces *Source: Institute of Medicine The Institute of Medicine recommends men drink 3.7 liters which is 125 ounces of water a day and for women, 2.7 liters or 91 ounces. Water can be found in foods too. Be sure to keep your diet full of water-rich fruits and veggies like watermelon, strawberries, bananas, cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes. Another tip is to avoid jumping from diet to diet. Stick to a realistic eating lifestyle you can practice for a lifetime. Paleo, Atkins, Vegan, the diet list is long. Stick to simple rules. Practice portion control, read nutrition labels, eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy products. Eat less refined grains, saturated fats, added sugars and sodium.
